Growing hepatitis rates a concern in W.Va.

West Virginia’s rate of prescription drug deaths is the highest in the country, and it increased six-fold between 1999 and 2010, according to the Trust for America’s Health. In McDowell County, West Virginia’s poorest, more than 36 percent of households live below the federal poverty level, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
