Emergency Preparedness Report Puts Nebraska Near the Bottom

Nebraska went from the top of the list in the country, to the bottom of the barrel.  The Ready or Not? Survey is conducted by the nonprofit Trust for America's Health. The annual report determines how prepared each state is to handle health crises.

The report dropped Nebraska from a perfect 10 last year, to a 5 this year.

"At first, that was a little disconcerning," Central District Health Department Emergency Response Coordinator Mike Darbro said. "But if you read the study you'll find they simply expanded the questions, and they expanded the questions to to areas where we are a little deficient.
