Desk treadmill allows users to do their work while getting a workout

Without ever leaving her desk, Marcie Brogan logs about 8 miles of walking at the office each week.

She does it astride a new piece of office furniture, manufactured by Grand Rapids-based Steelcase's Details subsidiary. It's a height-adjustable, flexible desktop integrated above a treadmill.

And Michiganders need to burn some calories.

We are the 10th fattest state in the nation according to a study released last month by the Trust for America's Health and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Nearly two-thirds of Michigan residents need to lose weight; 27.7% of state residents are obese, and 36% are overweight.
