Public-health critics say calories are fueling obesity more than a lack of exercise, andmany point to sugary beverages like soda in particular. Adult obesity rates topped 30% in 22 states and not a single state had a rate below 20% in 2014, compared with 1991, when no state had a rate above 20%, according to a report by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Trust for America’s Health published Monday.
