Measles still a threat as spring break nears

Kentucky ranks 38th in the nation for MMR vaccination of preschool children, ages 19-35 months, according to the Trust for America's Health, a nonprofit organization that promotes disease prevention.

With a vaccination rate of 89.5 percent, Kentucky fell short of Indiana's rate (92 percent) and the nation's (91.9 percent), according to the 2013 National Immunization Survey. It also fell below the national Healthy People 2020 target (90 percent).
