Accidental deaths from drug use on the rise in North Dakota

But North Dakota does not appear to be as hard hit as other states.
Using federal data, the nonprofit Trust for America’s Health calculated that North Dakota had 3.4 overdose deaths per 100,000 residents in 2010 – the lowest rate of any state or Washington, D.C.
Despite this relatively low figure, North Dakota lawmakers still view fatal overdoses as a problem worth addressing. State Sen. Howard Anderson Jr., R-Turtle Lake, has proposed a pair of bills this session aimed at saving lives.
