A task force created in Kanawha County to discuss substance abuse issues has released its findings.

The task force was made up community members that included political leaders, pharmacy owners, doctors and private citizens.

The group held meetings in September and October to investigate and analyze the substance abuse problem.

Wednesday, they released the following recommendations that could help curb the problem.

1. Tramadol should be made a Schedule IV controlled substance. This analgesic has been shown to have a propensity for abuse and moving it to Schedule IV will decrease the ease of access. This was a priority recommendation of the WV Board of Pharmacy.
