Preventive care saves money, lives

Almost a century ago, Dr. Hermann Biggs, New York’s health commissioner, said, “Public health is purchasable. Within natural limitations a community can determine its own death rate.”

Health is more than sober statistics of death rates, but when you are looking for a return on investment of health dollars, saving lives is a measurable bottom line.
