UAB experts, Birmingham-area parents stress keeping kids active and eating right in the summertime

With temperatures hovering in the mid-90s and the humidity keeping the air uncomfortably thick, it can be difficult to keep children physically active during the summer.
But parents need to ensure their kids exercise and eat right, especially since they are out of school and have no scheduled PE, recess or lunch time, experts say.
