Report: 15 States Face Hospital Bed Shortage in Flu Outbreak

A public health advocacy group said Thursday that 15 states would run out of hospital beds and another 12 would reach or exceed 75 percent average occupancy levels if up to 35 percent of the public contracts flu from the H1N1 virus.
To help reduce the incidence of the outbreak health officials should give top priority to urging young adults, minorities, and other at-risk groups to get vaccinated, said the group, Trust for America's Health. Other steps it urged to increase vaccination rates include waiving co-payments for receiving the vaccine.
