Nebraska slips from perfect score in disaster preparedness

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska slipped from a perfect score in preparing for pandemic flu and other health emergencies to rank among the poorest-performing states.

That's according to a national report released today.

The annual Ready or Not? survey by the nonprofit Trust for America's Health assesses how ready each state is to handle health crises such as bioterrorism or mass illness. This year's indicators include funding for public health services and disease surveillance.
