49th: Where Indiana ranks among the 50 states in federal funding for certain health programs, as well as for the amount of state money spent on public health, according to a report from a health watchdog group. Indiana received $87 million, or $13.69 per person, in competitive grants and formula funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2007, according to Trust for America's Health, a Washington-based nonprofit. Indiana also ranked 49th in the amount of state money spent on public health.
