Levi called for a comprehensive approach to combating obesity, including restoring physical education and recess in schools, increasing screenings of children's weight and height and reporting results to parents, accelerating research into ways to promote healthy eating, and increasing access to affordable health foods in communities and safe places for children to exercise and play. "We are not sending a wake-up call, we are ringing the disaster alarm," said Dr. Jim Marks, senior vice president at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
