Alabama in denial about its health?

The most serious of those health problems are linked to obesity. According to the "F as in Fat" report by the nonprofit Trust for America's Health
in late 2006, Alabama ranked second among states in the number of obese people, trailing only Mississippi.
Obesity is fueling an epidemic of weight-related health problems in the state, such as cardiac disease and diabetes. In fact, one in three children born in Alabama after 2002 will eventually be diagnosed with diabetes, Williamson has said. If that trend continues, the state could even witness a public health phenomenon -- life expectancies for children becoming shorter than their parents'.
