Nebraska could lose billions to bird flu

The report by Trust for America's Health predicts pandemic flu could cause $683 billion in losses nationwide 5.5 percent of the United States' gross domestic product and could lead to the second-worst depression since World War II. The report was based on a flu model that was as severe as the 1918 pandemic that killed 2.2 million Americans and sickened almost 90 million others.
