WIC could add fruit, vegetables, grains to food list

A health advocate said the new foods and are expected to help reduce Alabama's obesity rate, the second highest in the country behind Mississippi, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. "Nothing is a magic bullet in this issue, but it's something that should be really helpful for the families participating in WIC to have a more affordable, healthy option," said Laura Segal, a spokeswoman for Trust for America's Health, a health advocacy group.
