Philadelphia Reveals Pandemic Flu Action Plan

The City of Philadelphia yesterday publicly released a draft of its pandemic flu preparedness plan for the first time... ...Kim Elliott, deputy director of the Trust for America's Health, which has studied pandemic preparedness plans for several years, praised the release but noted some shortcomings. "The fact that this has been made public is an enormous step forward, and it will allow other sectors of Philadelphia to make their plans," Elliott said after a quick review of the document yesterday. And while much of the report contains detailed information on responses, other sections appeared to say little more than that the Health Department is planning to do additional planning, Elliott said. "There are very specific implementation steps, but also places where it is fairly vague," she said.
