We've focused so much as a nation on the threat of terrorists hijacking planes or detonating suitcase bombs or blowing up power plants that we’ve largely overlooked the bioterror threats our enemies might more easily unleash — not to mention the natural health disasters that are borne on the wings of insects and birds... ...According to the Trust for America’s Health, South Carolina is one of the three states most prepared to fight a medical emergency, with labs available to test for anthrax and plague and plans already developed to treat patients outside of hospitals if a natural or man-made emergency overwhelms the health system.
