Health Advocates Push for Local Flu Aid

Health advocacy groups are pressing Congress to increase federal assistance to state and local public health agencies by at least $1 billion under President Bush's pandemic flu plan... ...A letter being circulated by Trust for America's Health would call on congressional budget writers to raise federal support for local pandemic preparation by at least $500 million and give states an additional $510 million to stockpile anti-influenza drugs such as Tamiflu.
