Candidates Work Only the Edges of Health Care Crisis, Critics Say

WASHINGTON -- A snapshot of the nation's health status: 13 million people with heart disease, 18 million with diabetes, 430,000 children poisoned by lead, 36,000 dead each year from flu... ..."We now have a generation of children who are going to be more sick and have shorter lives than their parents for the first time in this nation's history," said Shelley Hearne, director of Trust for America's Health, a Washington disease prevention group.
