Birth Defects Registry: Ohio Takes Halting Steps to Create Birth Defects Database

Just five other states top Ohio in the number of births each year. That means that just five other states see more birth defects in any given year -- at least that's the assumption. No one can be sure, though, because Ohio is one of nine states that isn't tracking birth defects. That earned Ohio a grade of ``F'' from the Trust for America's Health in a 2002 report.
