Information on Increased Coverage Through the Affordable Care Act
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced that the Affordable Care Act has helped 14.3 million people within original Medicare get at least one preventive service at no cost to them during the first five months of 2012. This includes 1.1 million who have taken advantage of the Annual Wellness Visit provided by the Affordable Care Act. In 2011, 32.5 million people in Medicare received one or more preventive benefits free of charge.” For more details on available services, click here.
Similarly, according to a new Commonwealth Fund issue brief, “In 2011, an estimated 13.7 million young adults ages 19 to 25 stayed on or joined their parents’ health insurance plans, including 6.6 million who would probably not have been able to do so before passage of the Affordable Care Act.” You can view this brief only here.
